SEC Freshman of the Week honor for Abdoul Sy-Savane

FAYETTEVILLE – Two Razorback athletes were recognized for SEC Athlete of the Week honors following their respective performances at the Arkansas Invitational. Abdoul Sy-Savane was selected as SEC men’s Freshman of the Week while Sanu Jallow-Lockhart was named SEC women’s Runner of the Week.

Sy-Savane posted a career best time of 7.68 in the 60m hurdles semifinal, matching the leading time by a freshman in 2026, which is equal No. 8 among all collegians this season. His performance also ranks No. 7 on the UA all-time list.

In the 60m hurdle final, Sy-Savane placed second in 7.78 behind a 7.74 for freshman Ja’Shaun Lloyd of Texas State.

Jallow-Lockhart won the 600m in 1:24.19 to break the previous collegiate record by nearly a full second in topping the field by 2.5 seconds. The previous collegiate record of 1:25.16 was set by Razorback Britton Wilson in 2023.

The impressive performance by Jallow-Lockhart earned her USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.

Arkansas will host the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 30-31 at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
