Acuff Earns 5th-Straight SEC Freshman of the Week Honor
FAYETTEVILLE – For a record-setting fifth-straight time, Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league announced today.
For the second consecutive week, Acuff averaged over 20 points (22.5 pts) and 5.0 assists. Playing in his first two career SEC road games, Acuff led the Hogs in scoring in both games. At Ole Miss, Acuff led the Hogs to a win by scoring 26 points and dishing out nine assists. With the Rebels making a comeback attempt, Acuff scored 20 of his 26 points in the second half while handing out six of his nine assists in the period. He also led Arkansas in scoring at Auburn with 19 points.
Acuff is the first player in SEC history to earn the honor in five consecutive weeks and is the 13th player in league history (since the award started in 1988) to earn the honor at least five times in a season.
