Bulldogs Come to Town for Razorbacks’ Final Home Match
Arkansas volleyball has its last home match of the season on deck as the Hogs host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Friday, Nov. 7.
Mississippi State started its season with a 10-0 record in non-conference play and has since gone 5-7 in the SEC slate. One of those wins came against No. 19 Florida on Sept. 26, a five-set victory for the Bulldogs in Gainesville. The Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the conference in all statistical areas but one and are ranked the highest in digs per set (14.22) at No. 5.
State’s Cayley Hanson ranks in the top five in the SEC in assists/set (10.62) and aces/set (0.36), and McKenna Yates is fourth in digs/set at 4.05. Like Arkansas, the team’s offense is led by a freshman, Lindsey Mangelson, who is registering 4.45 kills/set, good for fifth in the SEC and 22nd nationally.
Mississippi State already played once this week; the Bulldogs were swept by the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Wednesday.
Arkansas continues to search for its first SEC win since a 3-2 victory over Ole Miss. While the Hogs have played six of their 12 conference matches to at least four sets, they’ve not been able to come out on the winning side in over a month. Arkansas most recently fell to Alabama 3-1 on Wednesday night at home.
Friday’s match against Mississippi State is Arkansas’ final at Barnhill Arena this season, and the action begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online, by phone, or in person via Razorback Ticket Center, and the match will also be streamed live on SEC Network+. The match serves as the team’s Senior Night, and post-game festivities will honor Avery Calame, Gaby Cornier, Skylar Ellison and Kylie Weeks.
