Arkansas #5 in Initial NCAA Scoreboard/Clippd Rankings
FAYETTEVILLE – The first official NCAA Scoreboard/Clippd rankings were released today and the Arkansas men’s golf program is #5 thanks to three top-three finishes to start the season with a win at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Arkansas opened the season tying for third at the Carmel Cup. #3 Vanderbilt and #17 Oklahoma State finished ahead of the Hogs and Arkansas tied #13 Oklahoma while beating #21 Texas Tech. In the team’s second event, the Bearcat Invitational, Arkansas finished third in the 18-team field. Last time out, the Razorbacks dominated the 10-team BCI by shooting a 3-under 861 to beat runner-up and #28 Louisville by 17 strokes. The Hogs also beat #10 BYU, which finished third, by 28 strokes.
Arkansas closes the fall portion of its schedule this week at the Fallen Oak Collegiate. In addition to the fifth-ranked Razorbacks, the field features #7 Ole Miss, #9 LSU, #18 Illinois, #19 Tennessee, #20 Alabama and #38 South Carolina.
Individually, John Daly II is the highest-ranked Razorback at #18. The senior opened the season by tying for 19th at the Carmel Cup then rattled off a runner-up finish at the Bearcat Invitational and a win at the BCI.
