Arkansas opens its 132nd season in program history tomorrow against Alabama A&M. Kickoff between the Hogs and Bulldogs inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Saturday, August 30, on the SEC Network.
1 – Arkansas is 103-24-4 all-time in season openers. The Razorbacks own a 106-21-4 all-time record in home openers. Head Coach Sam Pittman has won his past four home openers and is 4-1 in openers during his tenure leading the Razorbacks.
2 – The Hogs ranked third nationally in scrimmage plays of 10+ yards (246), and eighth nationally in scrimmage plays over 70+ yards (4) in 2024. Through the air, the Hogs ranked 12th nationally in passing gains of 10+ yards with 154.
3 – Razorback Offensive Coordinator Bobby Petrino enters his second season at the controls of the Hogs’ offense. Results in Petrino’s second year at a program as an offensive coordinator, head coach, or quarterbacks coach at the FBS and FCS levels have been very favorable. During his seven multi-year stints, his team’s offenses have seen an increase of 54.24 yards per game in total offense, 6.84 points per game in scoring offense, and 46.63 yards per game in passing offense.
4 – Arkansas touts an all-time record of 107-22-2 in home openers in Fayetteville, including a 71-16 mark at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium since its opening in 1938. The Razorbacks have won their last four home openers in Fayetteville under head coach Sam Pittman and own a 20-5 record in DWRRS home openers since 2000.
5 – RB Mike Washington Jr. is one of 12 FBS running backs entering the 2025 season with at least 469 all-purpose plays from scrimmage and 420 career rushes. Washington Jr. arrives in Fayetteville after spending the 2024 season at New Mexico State and the 2021-23 slates at Buffalo. The Utica, N.Y. product has rushed for 1,844 yards and 18 touchdowns while registering 244 receiving yards and two touchdowns during his collegiate career.
6 – QB Taylen Green and Oklahoma QB John Mateer are the only returning quarterbacks nationally to pass for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 600 yards in 2024.
7 – August 30 is the second-earliest start to a season in program history, trailing only last year’s home opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on August 29 in Little Rock. The Razorbacks hold an all-time record of 6-2 in games played in August, including a 6-1 mark in designated home games.
8 – The Razorbacks’ 179 consecutive extra-points made streak, which began on Dec. 5, 2020, is the third-longest such streak nationally based on date, behind Northwestern (Oct. 24, 2020) and Texas A&M (Nov. 7, 2020).
9 – WR Raylen Sharpe enters the 2025 season with a 29-game reception streak, which is tied for the fifth-longest mark nationally.
10 – WR O’Mega Blake ranked third nationally among FBS wide receivers with eight plays from scrimmage of 40+ yards in 2024 while at Charlotte. Blake and Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State are the only returning wide receivers nationally with eight or more receptions for 40+ yards a season ago.
