#9 Razorback MGolf Hosts Cabo Collegiate

FAYETTEVILLE – The 14th annual Cabo Collegiate, annually a destination for NCAA golf, once again will host one of the toughest fields in in the sport from Mar. 3-5 at Twin Dolphin Club (par 71, 7,156 yards) in Los Cabos, Mexico. And, for the second time in the tournament’s history, the individual champion will receive an exemption to play at a PGA TOUR event.

Host and ninth-ranked Arkansas will be part of a 15-team field, featuring 12 of the nation’s top 51 programs – with six of the top 10 . The individual champion will earn a sponsor’s exemption to play at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship, held Nov. 7-10 at Diamante Cabo San Lucas.

In 2021, Sam Bennett (Texas A&M) won the Cabo Collegiate (played in San Antonio due to COVID restrictions) and earned an exemption to play in the Valero Texas Open.

In addition to the #9 Razorbacks, the field includes #3 Vanderbilt, #5 Ole Miss, #6 Arizona State, #7 Tennessee, #8 Arizona, #11 Texas Tech, #12 Florida State, #18 Cal, #33 Oklahoma State, #37 Baylor, #51 Stanford, Houston, Rice and Columbia.

Vanderbilt has won each of the last two Cabo Collegiates and the field features six other programs that have won the event including Arizona State (2020), Oklahoma State (2017, ’18 and ’19), Florida State (2015), Houston (2014), Ole Miss (2012) and Arkansas (2010 and ’11).

In its first five events this season, Arkansas has placed among the top three four times including wins at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational and the Palmas del Mar Collegiate.

The top three in the Razorback lineup – John Driscoll III, John Daly II and Jacob Skov Olesen – are playing in their sixth event. Driscoll has a win to his credit and leads the team with a 69.86 scoring average thanks to a team-best seven rounds in the 60’s and three top 10’s. Daly has a 70.21 scoring average and is the only Hog to finish among the top 20 in the first five events. Olesen has a scoring average of 70.0 with a top 5 finish and a total of four top 20’s.

Manuel Lozada and Thomas Curry will round out the Razorback lineup. Lozada will be playing in his third Cabo Collegiate and has 72.21 scoring average with three top 15 finishes. In four events, Curry has a scoring average of 72.10 with two top 20’s.

Matthis Lefevre and Mateo Pulcini will compete as individuals. Lefevre has played in two events, twice as an individual, and has a scoring average of 70.29 with three top 20 finishes. Pulcini will be playing in his fourth event and third as an individual. He has two top 11 finishes, not including a ninth-place finish representing his native Argentina at the 2024 Latin America Amateur Championship.

The tournament is scheduled for 18 holes of competition each of the three days.
