Arkansas in 6th After Rd1 at Linger Longer

EATONTON., Ga. – Segundo Oliva Pinto shot a 71 and Julian Perico posted a 72 as Arkansas sits in sixth place after round one with a score of 294 (+6) in the 16-team Linger Longer Invitational, played Sunday at the Great Waters Course at Reynold Lake Oconee.

Arkansas got off to a hot start with eight birdies over the first four holes. But the Razorbacks, and the rest of the field for that matter, would cool down the rest of the way. #20 Alabama and #34 Georgia did close strong and sit at -5 to share the lead. Top-ranked Vanderbilt is third (-2), followed by #16 Virginia (-1), #11 Georgia Tech (+4) and #44 Arkansas (+6).

Oliva Pinto was part of the hot start with birdies on holes 2 and 4. He dropped a shot on the par-4, 7th, then closed his round with 11 straight pars for his 1-under-71. He is tied for 12th but just three shots behind the leaders at -4.

Julian Perico turned in an even-par round of 72 and is tied for 16th. He offset a double bogey and two bogeys with birdies on holes 1, 2, 6, and 11.

Wil Gibson closed his round with a birdie on 18 and finished at +3 to stand in a tie for 42nd. Manuel Lozada also had a birdie on 18 and he is tied for 55th at +4 along with teammate Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira.

Round two of three is set for Monday.
