Two Hogs in Top 10 After First Round at MountainView Intercollegiate

 TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arkansas women’s golf team stands in a tie for seventh out of 17 teams through one round at the MountainView Intercollegiate with a 1-under 287. Arkansas was in the top five for majority of the day until the Hogs found some trouble in the latter holes. Two Hogs are in the top 10 with Kajal Mistry and Miriam Ayora both logging a 2-under 70 to tie for ninth. The Hogs can make some moves tomorrow, as Arkansas is one stroke behind sixth-place UNLV and 11 behind leading TCU.

At the No. 1 spot, Mistry had a solid day on the course, where she won the MountainView Intercollegiate last season. She logged six birdies and finished the last three holes with pars. At 2-under, Mistry and Ayora are in a tie for ninth and five strokes behind first place. Mistry had the third most birdies (6) in round one and is tied for the fifth best par 4s average (3.7) through one round.

Ayora also delivered at the No. 2 spot, in which she also registered a 2-under 70 to sit in the top 10. With just one bogey, Ayora tallied three birdies and closed out the back nine with all pars. She has the second-best par 5s average (4.5), 10th most pars (14) and 15th best par 3s average (3.0) among the field of 90 golfers.

Back in the lineup, Ela Anacona delivered an even-par 72 to tie for 31st after one round. After two bogeys within the first four holes, Anacona settled down, as she delivered three birdies, 10 pars and just one bogey in the final 14 holes. At the individual spot, Meghan Royal is in a tie for 57th with a 2-over 74. The freshman recorded three bogeys with one birdie and 14 pars.

Kendall Todd was unstoppable through the front nine but found some trouble in the back nine. Todd had three birdies and six pars in the front nine but had four bogeys and a double-bogey in the back nine. Rounding out the lineup, Julia Gregg is in a tie for 73rd with a 4-over 76. She started out the day with a birdie on hole one but had five bogeys throughout the rest of the round.
