Women’s Tennis Return Home for Pair of SEC Matches

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team is back at Billingsley Tennis Center after an eight-match road stretch. The No. 56 Razorbacks (6-7, 0-4) will host the No. 66 Ole Miss Rebels (7-5, 1-3) on Friday, March 17 and the Mississippi State Bulldogs (10-5, 0-4) on Sunday, March 19.

Arkansas has played only one match at home this season as they return home looking for their first SEC win. Last weekend, the Hogs faced two big tests in the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies and the No. 38 LSU Tigers. Junior Lenka Stara scored two of the four points for the Razorbacks through both matches, having an undefeated weekend in singles play with wins on court five. Against LSU, senior Kelly Keller earned her first ranked win with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over No. 17 Kylie Collins on court one.

Ole Miss’ first SEC win came against No. 58 Kentucky on opening weekend, then falling in two straight matches to No. 7 Auburn and Alabama. In singles, No. 93 Ludmilia Kareisova leads the Rebels with a 9-2 dual record, having won her last six matches on court two. Kareisova and partner Leclercq-Fischer team up for doubles, they hold a 6-3 record at the top court and have lost their last two matches both against ranked opponents.

The Bulldogs are also seeking their first win in league play, falling last weekend to No. 7 Auburn and Alabama as well. In the loss to Auburn, graduate Emmanouela Antonaki took the lone point for the Bulldogs defeating No. 46 Arsenault on court one. Anotonaki improves to 10-3 this dual season in the top position for Mississippi State, winning her last two matches. In doubles, Antonaki and Cohen are 5-3 on court one this spring and are 1-1 against nationally ranked-opponents.

Live coverage of Friday’s match against Ole Miss will be provided by Cracked Racquets as part of the SEC CrossCourt whip-around broadcast streamed on SEC Network+. Live stats and video stream will also be available on the women’s tennis schedule page for both matches.
