Program-Record 8 Hogs Named NFCA All-Region
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A program-record eight Razorbacks were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s (NFCA) All-South Region teams, the organization announced Thursday. No. 4 Arkansas paced the South Region with six first-team and two third-team selections.
Chenise Delce, Mary Haff, Danielle Gibson, Hannah Gammill, KB Sides and Linnie Malkin were tabbed to the All-South Region First Team while Taylor Ellsworth and Audrie LaValley earned third-team honors.
The Hogs are one of four programs to have all eight of their nominations receive All-Region recognition, joining No. 1 Oklahoma (Central), No. 3 Virginia Tech (Mid-Atlantic) and Boston University (Northeast).
Gibson and Haff earned first-team honors for the second time in their careers while Delce, Gammill, Sides and Malkin collected their first first-team selections.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominate student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Arkansas begins the 2022 NCAA Tournament at 5 p.m. Friday against Princeton at Bogle Park. The game will be televised on SEC Network with Maddi Shipman and Eric Frede on the call.
