Lovett Honored as SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Senior Bailey Lovett has been tabbed as the 2022 SEC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Saturday.

Lovett, a Greensboro, N.C. native, is Arkansas’ first gymnastics SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year since 2011, and just the second in program history.

Bailey graduated in fall of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and earned a 4.0 in the fall semester, which capped off a perfect record of Dean’s List mentions throughout each semester of her undergrad career.

She is also a three-time SEC Honor Roll recipient, a 2019 SEC Academic All-Freshman Team honoree and a three-time WCGA Scholar-Athlete.

Lovett was recently admitted to the University of Arkansas School of Law and will return to the Gymback program in 2023 along with pursuing her Juris Doctor degree.

Bailey was a 2020 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree and is having an excellent senior season. She has competed on beam and floor in every meet and has finished in the top three 12 of 20 times, including two floor titles and one beam title. Heading into the postseason, she has Arkansas’ highest floor average of 9.887.
