HAT and ICE: Inspiring Safer, Smarter Off-Piste Skiing

0 5

Building awareness and confidence for safer adventures beyond the piste

For over 20 years, HAT has proudly partnered with ICE (the International Centre of Excellence) — a leading European Business Partner of BASI (British Association of Snowsport Instructors). Based in Val d’Isère, France, ICE delivers official BASI training programmes, shaping the next generation of elite ski instructors.

This 2025/26 season HAT will again join ICE’s courses to deliver our acclaimed Off-Piste Awareness & Avalanche Safety Training — helping trainees gain the knowledge and confidence to explore the mountains more safely and enjoyably.

HAT’s mission is simple : to give every skier the awareness, understanding, and mindset to have more fun with less risk — whether they’re venturing off-piste or ski touring deep into the backcountry.

For advanced trainees, our sessions are also designed to support success in their International Mountain Safety exams (Levels 3 & 4).

“It’s always a great talk and perfect for our students to hear this vital information before taking on an extended period of time with us in Val d’Isère.”

James Duffield

ICE Director / BASI Trainer

The ICE team continues to set the bar for world-class ski instruction — from professional-level training for aspiring instructors to transformative coaching for passionate skiers. It’s a privilege to collaborate with them and the motivated people who join their courses.

Safety is Freedom !
