Big air underway on action-packed day at the Games
Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - The women‘s big air snowboard finals got underway at the Winter Olympics in one of 10 medals events on a busy day 13 at the Pyeongchang Games on Thursday.Big air, in which competitors perform tricks after launching from a large jump, is making its debut at the Games.Elsewhere Austria‘ Marcel Hirscher was seeking a third gold medal of the Pyeongchang Games when he competes in the men‘s slalom in alpine skiing.There were two alpine skiing events, with the women competing in the combined.Canada and the United States were competing for gold in the women‘s ice hockey final, with Canada seeking a fifth consecutive gold.Medals were also up for grabs in the the biathlon women‘s 4x6-kilometre relay, Nordic combined men‘s team large hill/4x5km and three short track events - the men‘s 500m, women‘s 1,000m and men‘s relay.Among the action elsewhere, curling continued with a men‘s tie breaker between Switzerland and Britain and a men‘s semi-final between Canada and the United States.
