Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic stunned the favourites with the fastest run in the women‘s super-g as she headed for one of the biggest Olympic alpine skiing shocks in recent history at the Winter Games on Saturday.Ledecka, 22, who is also competing in snowboard‘s parallel giant slalom where she is the world champion, clocked 1 minute 21.11 seconds on the Jeongseon course to lead after the top 35 racers.Ledecka, who has never been on an alpine skiing World Cup podium, knocked 2014 Sochi super-g gold medallist Anna Veith of Austria off the leaderboard by one hundredth of a second, with Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein lying third. There was meanwhile disappointment for US medals hope Lindsey Vonn following a mistake late in her run. Vonn, who is seeking in Pyeongchang a second Olympic gold after missing the Sochi 2014 Games through injury, ran wide towards the end of her run. She put her hands to her helmet and shook her head in dismay in the finishing area.
