Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - The men‘s downhill in alpine skiing was a casualty of the weather but six other medals events at the Winter Olympics were set on a cold but clear day in Pyeongchang on Sunday.Many in the Olympic village were woken to an emergency alert after a magnitude 4.8 earthquake was felt near the coastal city of Pohang, some 170 kilometres south-east of Pyeongchang, but there were no reports of casualties or damage.The men‘s downhill in alpine skiing has been rescheduled to Thursday after strong winds at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre forced organizers to cancel the race.Dutchman Sven Kramer is meanwhile hoping to become the first man to win three gold medals in speedskating‘s men‘s 5,000 metresin one of the highlights of the day‘s action.Germany‘s Felix Loch could become luge‘s first four-time gold medallist in the final two runs of the men‘s singles.Martin Fourcade of France and Johannes Thingnes Boe of Norway are among the favourites in the men‘s 10-kilometre sprint in biathlon, while medals are to be won in the men‘s 30km skiathlon in cross-country, men‘s slopestyle in snowboard and the women‘s moguls in freestyle skiing.Temperatures dropped overnight and were in the minus double digits Celsius at the Alpensia ski centre with a chill factor of minus 23, and an expected to rise only to a maximum of minus 6.Temperatures would also remain below freezing in the Gangneung coastal cluster, where the ice events are held.
