Santa-Cruz-Abschied: Laurie Greenland verlässt das Syndicate
Nach vier gemeinsamen Saisons gehen Laurie Greenland und das Santa Cruz Syndicate getrennte Wege. Der britische Downhill-Profi wird in der Saison 2026 nicht mehr für das Team im World Cup antreten.
Der Downhill World Cup bleibt auch mit Blick auf die kommende Saison von Bewegung geprägt, und im Zuge der Wechselperiode zeichnen sich mehrere personelle Veränderungen ab. Eine davon betrifft Laurie Greenland: Nach vier Jahren endet die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Santa Cruz Syndicate, wie die Marke auf ihrem Instagram-Kanal bekannt gibt. Der Brite war seit 2022 Teil des Teams und gehörte insbesondere dann, wenn er fit an den Start gehen konnte, zu den auffälligeren Fahrern im Fahrerfeld.

Goodbyes are never easy — and this one’s especially tough, mainly because he’s an actual legend.
From day one in 2022, he slotted straight in: rapid on track and somehow even better in the pits. World Cup podiums, a World Championship bronze medal, clutch runs when it really mattered… but just as many moments off the bike we’ll never forget.Calm, no-nonsense race mornings. Dry one-liners dropped at exactly the right moment. Keeping things light while everyone else overthought it. Add freestyle rapping, the uncontrollable ostrich face, and generally being a tonic for the whole team – Loz brought it all.

“Hardline vibes were always good. Tassie was spicier than Wales, Loz was terrified of spiders and snakes and ended up sleeping in the main house with Uncle Steve and me.He also “taught” us how to surf on an early team camp in Portugal, sending us straight into 6ft sets and getting absolutely pummelled — brutal, but weirdly addictive.
That third place at Worlds in Fort William was special. Even after time off the bike, he was hauling all week and could’ve easily won it if not for a tiny pedal clip before the Hazard Hoofer.
On Road Rules, he forgot his riding shoes — again — and did the Canberra “World Champs repeat” in slip-on Vans. Still smoked everyone bar Jackson and barely blinked. Forgetting shoes became a theme, but teammates were the same size, and he never stressed.
Then there’s his unreal ability to lose absolutely anything, but like a boomerang, it always comes back.
All in all, a fun-loving, easy-going bloke. Pretty horizontal at times. Incredibly infuriating on occasion. Always a lovable dude and a great mate.”

The Fort William podium at home, big rides under pressure, endless laughs, and the addition of Granny Liz (the team mascot we didn’t know we needed) are just the tip of the Greenland iceberg.Four years of racing, we’re properly grateful for.

In sportlicher Hinsicht blickt Greenland auf mehrere World-Cup-Podiumsplätze sowie eine Bronzemedaille bei den Weltmeisterschaften in Fort William zurück. Auch nach verletzungsbedingten Auszeiten konnte er sich dort wieder konkurrenzfähig präsentieren. Neben den Resultaten auf der Strecke wird aus dem Umfeld des Teams vor allem seine Rolle abseits des Rennbetriebs betont: Greenland soll sich schnell ins Team eingefügt haben und mit seiner ruhigen, humorvollen Art zu einer entspannten Atmosphäre beigetragen haben.
Wie es für Laurie Greenland nach dem Abschied weitergeht, ist bislang offen. Ein neues Team für die Saison 2026 wurde nicht bekannt gegeben.
