Polk County typically has at least one team in the state tournament and often has had two or more teams. Who can remember the year Polk teams won three of the six state titles. So the county takes great pride in its rich history of fastpitch softball. And this year? Although the county fell short of sending a team to the state tournament last year and the depth of strong teams isn’t as strong as other years, at least two teams, Bartow and Lake Wales, have great chances of returning to the state tournament.
