Smith: Field trips help fuel NRF success in Wisconsin

It started as an experiment. The year was 1993 and the fledgling Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin was looking for a way to increase its profile and its fundraising. What if, NRF staff thought, we started a program of outings in the Wisconsin outdoors? What if they were led by experts who shared their knowledge and a unique experience with the public? How much would it help us toward our goals? Thirty-three years later there are no more questions: the idea was solid gold. After three pilot events in 1993 the NRF field trip program has done nothing but grow. This year the organization will offer about 280 trips spanning the state.
