AREA ROUNDUP FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A fraction of a second separated Washington State’s Rosemary Longisa from being a national champion. But second place isn’t too shabby for Cougar distance running’s budding star. Leading going into the last turn in the women’s mile, Longisa was passed by Oregon’s Wilma Nielsen and finished second in the event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Her mile time of 4 minutes, 40.21 seconds was only 0.15 seconds behind the first-place finisher. Nielsen won in 4:40.06.
