Cook Islands secures 16 gold medals at Polynesian Championships

Cook Islands left a golden mark at the Polynesian Track and Field Championships, which returned after a hiatus of more than a decade, achieving multiple national records and gold medals. Held last week at The Trusts Arena in Auckland, the event ran concurrently with the New Zealand Track and Field Championships from March 5 to 8. The competition brought together over 100 athletes representing the Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Niue, American Samoa and French Polynesia. While Pacific islands participants competed alongside New Zealand athletes, their final times and distances were used to determine the rankings for the Polynesian Championships.
