Coppin State, Morgan State teeing off with men’s and women’s golf programs

The rivalry between Coppin State and Morgan State remains strong. In September, the Eagles announced they would sponsor teams in men’s and women’s golf for the first time in their school history. On Feb. 10, the Bears announced they would also add men’s and women’s golf. Coppin State coach Elam Ruff noted that the Eagles beat Morgan State to the punch. “We kind of wanted to set the tone in the area,” he said. “Personally, I’m glad we got the ball rolling first.” Keeping up with Coppin State was not the top priority — although a little motivation didn’t hurt, according to Bears athletic director Dena Freeman-Patton. “Not about the announcement, but there’s always some competitive juices...
