The run continues for Ventura County’s lone defending CIF-Southern Section soccer champion. Adrian Padilla and Aiden Bernal scored goals as the Channel Islands High boys soccer team turned away visiting Long Beach Poly, 2-1, on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. “I think we played well,” said Channel Islands coach Chava Orozco. “We had the momentum from the beginning.” It was the sixth straight CIF-SS playoff win for the Citrus Coast League champion Raiders (13-8-4), who will visit Murrieta Valley in Friday’s second round.
