The Varsity 845 girls basketball players of the week polls are online for Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Information was utilized on reports gathered by Varsity 845 and nominations. Coaches are encouraged to provide their game reports in order for athletes to be chosen; they may also nominate one player from their team by Sunday afternoon. One athlete per school is allowed per week. The week’s winner will have to sit out the next poll. The athletes hail from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties. For the Jan. 19-25 poll, Tessa Furst of Cornwall and Anastasia Niforatos of Rockland won the large- and small-school polls.
