Muir boys soccer scores twice in final minutes to tie Crescenta Valley
PASADENA — The Muir boys soccer team’s chances of claiming the Pacific League title were fading and on the brink until a goal in the last seconds of extra time lifted the Mustangs to a 2-2 draw with Crescenta Valley on Tuesday night. Santos Aviles rose to the occasion for the Mustangs, blasting the tying goal to culminate a heroic effort. The Mustangs rallied from down 2-0, scoring in the 78th minute and again a few minutes later to pull off the comeback. “We were trying to get that goal, pushing for that goal to stay in the fight for first place,” Aviles said. Crescenta Valley (10-1-5, 8-1-2) still holds a slight lead over Muir (12-1-4, 7-0-4) with three games left....
