Duke finds itself in the middle of a legal battle that could have wide-reaching implications across college sports. The university sued quarterback Darian Mensah on Tuesday, Jan. 20, claiming he breached a multi-year contract he signed with Duke on July 2025 that was set to run through Dec. 2026. Mensah's deal was reportedly worth $8 million – $4 million annually – and gave the Blue Devils a number of rights, including to Mensah’s name, image and likeness (NIL).
