'Wacky' Ohio Cardinal Conference title still very much in play for Tygers

MANSFIELD — The Ohio Cardinal Conference has always been known for its parity in boys basketball. A league that started with the 2003-04 season, only eight times in 22 seasons has there been an undefeated conference champion. Mansfield Senior did it in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2009-10 and 2012-13 while Ashland did it in 2014-15, Wooster in 2016-17 and 2019-20 and Lexington in 2023-24. A total of 11 times has the OCC champion been crowned with more than one league loss and four times with three or more including one of the wildest seasons in conference history in 2021-22 when Ashland won it with an 8-4 league mark with three other teams tying for second at 7-5.
