Evangel, loaded with eighth graders, seeks return to All 'A' success

Two years removed from a run to the Sweet 16 semifinals, the Evangel Christian boys basketball program has rebuilt behind a solid core of middle-schoolers. The Eagles are headed back to the All “A” Classic state tournament with a roster that includes four eighth-graders among its top eight scorers. “They’ll get a lot better of this coming summer,” Evangel coach Larry Miller said, “and I think we’ll have a chance to be really good next season.” Evangel Christian will take an 11-3 record into Thursday’s All “A” opener against Clinton County (17-2) at 9:30 a.m. EST at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
