The Wilmington area high school football coaching carousel is spinning once again. Just one season after three new head coaches took over Wilmington-area programs, four new faces will lead local teams in 2026. Most notably, Laney, one of North Carolina's largest schools, will have a different head coach for the third straight season after Steve Brooks resigned following just one year in the Port City. Ashley, Topsail and West Brunswick will also have new leadership on the football field. Each of those teams has already found its answers early in the new year.
