With nearly 4,000 athletes competing for the 189 medals on offer, the new edition of the multi-sport event will turn the Chinese city of Sanya, located on Hainan Island, into the continental epicentre of beach sports during the final week of April. With fewer than 100 days to the opening ceremony, preparations have entered their final phase, the organisers confirmed at a recent press conference.
