Mike Tomlin's choice to step down as coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers throws another minor complication into the Tennessee Titans' search for their next coach, but not enough that the search needs to be derailed. Tomlin is taking his leave from Pittsburgh after a 19-year run that included a Super Bowl victory. Since Tomlin is stepping down instead of being fired, the Steelers will have the option to retain Tomlin's contract rights, and in doing so make it so a team will have to trade or negotiate for Tomlin if he decides he wants to coach again in 2026.
