Here’s a look at some of the recent boys basketball action in the Journal-area: Monday, Dec. 15 Leyden 65, Mather 56: Leyden (6-3) won its sixth straight game after a great showing by the 1-2 punch of Ernesto Sanchez (21 points) and Mohamed El-Hindi (18 pts.). Elk Grove 52, North Shore Country Day 29: Elk Grove (2-6) won its second straight game, a rare accomplishment over the last couple years, after taking down visiting NSCD (5-2) in a nonconference game. Elk Grove went 3-29 last season, so they have already nearly matched last season’s win total with the victory.
