Former Wittenberg men’s basketball assistant coach dies at 50

Artie Taylor, an assistant men’s basketball coach at Wittenberg on Bill Brown’s staff for five seasons, including the national runner-up season of 2005-06, died on Wednesday at 50. Taylor suffered from pancreatic cancer. According to his obituary, he "is survived by his wife Christine, his son AJ, bonus son Will Smith, Jr. and his mom Kerry Monahan." AJ Taylor is a junior guard at Wittenberg. “Artie was so much more than a basketball coach,” Wittenberg coach Darren Hertz said in a press release. “He was a leader of men.
