Analyzing the potential matchup, Chimaev asserted that Pereira`s path to victory, and to handing him his first professional loss, is extremely narrow, hinging on a single specific condition.

Displaying assurance in his capacity to adapt to different weight classes, Chimaev has long-term plans to ascend to the light heavyweight division.

In an interview with Arslanbek Badaev, Chimaev stated, “Naturally, I am eager to contend for a second championship belt. It`s clear that Alex Pereira, the current 205-pound champion, presents an excellent matchup for me – unless I become careless while striking with him.”

Regarding Pereira, also known as `Poatan`, Chimaev commented, “Everyone talks about his power, but I`ve never been outmatched in that department. He also competed at 185 pounds before moving to 205 pounds, which is precisely why I want to challenge him at light heavyweight.”
