Nico Ali Walsh, Grandson Of Muhammad Ali, To Testify Wednesday At U.S. Senate
The Ali Act Preservation Alliance announces its support for Nico Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali’s grandson of Muhammad Ali, who will testify Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET. in the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee against the passage of exceptions weakening the protection of boxers under the original Ali Act.
The Alliance gives its full endorsement of the message Nico will deliver, echoing his earlier statement about the proposed amendment to the existing law, the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, passed in the year 2000, and as the Commerce Committee stated on April 15th, to “designed to address conflicts of interest in the boxing market and strengthen boxers’ bargaining power.”
The proposed changes, ironically called a “Revival Act”, would permit so-called UBOs to engage in the same conflicts of interest, weakening the bargaining power of boxers under its contract, that the Ali Act prohibits today.
The Alliance again endorses Nico’s passionate statement:
“As an Ali, I’m completely against altering the Muhammad Ali Act. My grandfather fought for it to protect fighters from getting screwed over. Remove it, and promoters take control while fighters get paid less. Keep the act and protect the fighters who put their lives on the line.” (Aug. 11, 2025)
We ask the community of fighters and fans to join in supporting Nico and the entire sport for the preservation of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. Thank you.
