Arsenal are "best positioned" to sign €80m French star, contact made with agency
Arsenal are ‘best positioned’ to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga during the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sport CH.
The Gunners have been fancied to bolster their midfield this summer, and Sky Sport CH claim that Camavinga has emerged as a possible solution.
The player’s agency, CAA Stellar have personally contacted several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, to gauge their interest before the season ends.
Arsenal seem ‘best positioned’ to ‘make a move’ for the Frenchman valued at €80 million by Madrid, but the player’s stance could be a possible roadblock.
While Madrid and his agency are exploring offers, Camavinga has ‘no intention of leaving’ the club. He is ready to do whatever it takes to establish himself permanently and regain management’s trust.
Los Blancos, on their side, believe the sale of Camavinga this summer would facilitate the arrival of a marquee midfielder ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Arsenal unlikely to land Camavinga
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Spanish top-flight. However, his playing has been limited throughout the current campaign.
Madrid manager Alvaro Albeloa recently made the choice to start 18-year-old Thiago Pitarch over the Frenchman in the Champions League last 16 ties against Manchester City.
Los Blancos are also exploring the addition of a new midfielder ahead of next season. Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has been frequently linked and could emerge as a prime target.
Amidst this, Camavinga’s future has been put into question over the last few weeks.
The former Rennes man would be a top-class signing for any elite European club. He has completed 92 percent of his passes in La Liga this term, winning 63 percent of his duels.
Camavinga has also registered 2.5 tackles and 3.2 recoveries per game. He has been brilliant with his ball control, losing possession fewer than six occasions per league appearance.
Despite the glowing stats, the player’s stance remains pivotal. He has no desire to move on. Barring a change of mind, the highly-rated midfielder could fight for his Madrid future.
Even if he becomes available in the transfer market, Arsenal may struggle to convince him to join without the assurance of a regular starting role in the Premier League next season.
Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice are undisputed starters in central midfield, and manager Mikel Arteta may not displace either player for Camavinga during the next campaign.
Camavinga is unlikely to join the Gunners to compete and provide midfield depth, as he already finds himself in a similar situation at Madrid under Arbeloa in recent months.
