Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang sends five-word message to Arsenal ahead of Carabao Cup final
Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has responded to an Instagram post from the club ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium today.
The Gunners are aiming to win their first piece of silverware since the 2020 FA Cup final, where Aubameyang was the man of the match. The Gabonese star scored a memorable brace in the 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea.
Ahead of the League Cup final, the Gunners posted a picture from the FA Cup triumph back in August 2020 alongside a video of Aubameyang scoring the winning goal against the Blues.
Aubameyang left the Gunners after a breakdown in his relationship with manager Mikel Arteta in 2022, but the striker has continued to follow the club and wished them well for today’s final.
He commented: ‘Wishing you the best Coyg’.

Aubameyang was a huge catalyst behind the club’s FA Cup success six years ago.
The Gunners won against the odds against Manchester City in the semi-final after two sublime counter-attacking goals from the 36-year-old.
The striker replicated the feat in the final. Initially scoring from the penalty spot before outwitting the Blues’ backline to score the match-winner.
Arsenal have not reached a competition final since then, and have the opportunity today to end a trophy drought that has lasted almost six years.
They have been handed a timely boost before the game with playmaker Martin Odegaard and right-back Jurrien Timber spotted in first-team training.
Odegaard may not make the starting XI with Eberechi Eze in sparkling form from the number 10 role. He recently scored a sublime goal from outside the box against Bayer Leverkusen.
Timber, however, should be reinstated in the starting line-up at right-back. The Netherlands defender has a job on his hands against one of the best dribblers in the game in Jeremy Doku.
