Arsenal star nominated for PL Player of the Week, 92% passes vs Everton

0 2

Arsenal FC midfielder Max Dowman has been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Week following his historic goal against Everton FC on Matchday 30.

The teenage midfielder scored with virtually the last kick of the game to seal a 2–0 victory for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Dowman produced a moment of brilliance for the Gunners, carrying the ball from his own half into the opposition territory before weaving past several Everton players and calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net.

With the strike, the youngster became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, breaking a record that had stood for two decades.

At just 16 years and 73 days old, Dowman surpassed the milestone previously held by James Vaughan, who scored for Everton against Crystal Palace FC at the age of 16 years and 270 days in April 2005.

According to the Premier League, the Arsenal sensation has now been nominated for Player of the Week, where he will compete against four other standout performers.

The 16-year-old will battle for the award alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos of West Ham United FC, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Gordon, and Richarlison.

Dowman earned his place on the shortlist following his immediate impact after coming off the bench to help Arsenal secure all three points.

With the game still goalless, the young midfielder was introduced in the 75th minute, replacing Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi with fifteen minutes left to play.

His introduction injected urgency and creativity into Arsenal’s attack as the league leaders searched for a breakthrough against a resilient Everton side.

Dowman also impressed statistically during his cameo, completing 92 percent of his passes while delivering seven accurate passes into the final third to push Arsenal forward.

The youngster was equally dangerous in possession, attempting five dribbles and registering two shots at goal — one on target and the other narrowly off target.

If he goes on to win the award, Dowman will become the first 16-year-old player to claim the Premier League Player of the Week honour since the league’s inception in 1992.
