Georgian star committed to PSG amid Arsenal interest

0 2

Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has reaffirmed his commitment to Paris Saint‑Germain ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea FC, dismissing speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal FC.

Arsenal are believed to be planning to strengthen their attacking options when the summer transfer window opens in June as they prepare for the 2026/2027 season.

The North London club have been linked with several attacking players, with reports suggesting Kvaratskhelia could be a potential target.

However, the former Napoli forward has played down the rumours and insisted he is happy in Paris and hopes to continue his stay with the French champions beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.

Speaking during his press conference, Kvaratskhelia described the French capital as an ideal place for both his professional and personal life.

“Paris, for me, is truly incredible. You have everything here, and on top of that, it’s the city of love,” Kvaratskhelia said via Le Parisien. “When PSG called me, I think my wife was the happiest person in the world.”

He admitted he had initially doubted the possibility of joining PSG, despite his wife’s long-standing dream of living in the French capital.

“Before PSG contacted me, she always said, ‘Imagine if we played for PSG one day, it would be incredible to live there.’ I would reply, ‘Yes, of course.’ But in my mind, I thought it was very difficult to go there when there were such amazing players like [Lionel] Messi, Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe,” he added.

Kvaratskhelia also lauded Paris for its atmosphere, highlighting how much he values the respect fans show toward him and his family.

“I love Paris, I love everything about Paris. The more I think about it, the more I appreciate how respectful people are. When you go out, they don’t bother you much. At a restaurant, for example, they ask before taking a photo. I really like that. It’s the best city to stroll around in with your wife,” Kvaratskhelia said.

The former Rubin Kazan star has remained a key figure for the Ligue 1 champions since joining from Napoli during the winter transfer window in January 2025.

The 25-year-old played a crucial role as the Parisians secured their first-ever UEFA Champions League title last season, thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

In doing so, he became the first Georgian to score in a UEFA club competition final and only the second Georgian to win the Champions League after Kakha Kaladze.

Kvaratskhelia has continued his impressive form this season, registering eight goals and six assists in 30 appearances across Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.

Ahead of the clash against Chelsea, the former Napoli winger will be eager to maintain his fine run of form and help PSG secure victory as they seek revenge for their defeat to the Blues in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
