Alan Shearer picks three Arsenal stars in PL Team of the Week including 24yo ace
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has picked three Arsenal stars in his Team of the Week following the 4-1 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Gunners returned to winning ways with a sublime victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres were outstanding in the north London derby with two goals apiece. The latter was awarded the man of the match accolade for his display.
Piero Hincapie likewise had a wonderful outing from the left-back position. The Ecuadorian won eight duels, made five successful tackles, three recoveries and three clearances.
The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes with a passing accuracy of 89 percent.
Alan Shearer has now picked his Premier League Team of the Week, and unsurprisingly, it includes Eze, Gyokeres and Hincapie, who has cemented the left-back role.
Arsenal had to beat Spurs to keep their Premier League title pursuit in their own hands.
The Gunners are presently five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, but the Cityzens have a game in hand against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium yet to be rescheduled.
Pep Guardiola’s side will play first against Leeds United on the road this weekend. The Mancunian outfit will face the Whites on Saturday before Arsenal host Chelsea almost 24 hours later.
The London giants face a similar situation to last weekend, and the Blues game is a must-win. It remains to be seen whether manager Mikel Arteta goes with an unchanged starting line-up.
Eze got a surprise start against Spurs and grabbed the opportunity with a brace. However, with captain Martin Odegaard fit again, his position in the number 10 role is not guaranteed.
Odegaard, who grabbed an assist coming off the bench last weekend, has fared well against the Blues in the past. The Norwegian has seven goal contributions from just 10 appearances.
