Contact made: Arsenal are interested in signing Bournemouth striker
Arsenal have made initial contact with the representatives of Bournemouth striker Junior Kroupi, according to French outlet Media Foot.
The 19-year-old has had a fantastic debut season with the Cherries in the Premier League. He has netted eight goals from just 781 minutes this term.
His progress has caught the eye of top European clubs. Media Foot claim that Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are among his main admirers.
PSG transfer advisor Luis Campos has been monitoring Kroupi for several months. He could be a possible replacement for striker Goncalo Ramos.
Arsenal have also been in contact with the player’s representatives, but PSG could have the upper hand.
Kroupi is managed by the agency led by Moussa Sissoko, who already represents PSG trio Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele.
Arsenal trailing PSG in pursuit of Kroupi
The France Under-21 international signed for the Cherries from Lorient in February last year, but did not link up with his new teammates until the summer.
The youngster was initially restricted to late cameos by manager Andoni Iraola, but has become an integral part of the starting plans in recent months.
Kroupi has averaged a league goal every 98 minutes this campaign, which is hugely impressive.
He has scored against Arsenal and Manchester United from outside the box, while also finding the back of the net in the late victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Kroupi is primarily a central striker, but the teenager has shown his versatility, having recently operated as an attacking midfielder behind Evanilson for his club.
He can likewise play on the left wing when required. The Frenchman’s versatility and good finishing skills will have caught the eye of the Gunners this season.
The 19-year-old would be a solid addition to the squad due to his immense potential, but PSG could provide fierce competition in the player’s pursuit.
Sissoko manages Doue, Dembele and Barcola, and he could prioritise a move for his client to Les Parisiens.
Ultimately, the final decision is up to Kroupi himself. Arsenal may need to convince him first before lodging a summer offer for his services.
