Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has sent a message to Arsenal following the club’s progression to the Carabao Cup final after beating Newcastle United.

The Cityzens booked their spot at Wembley with a convincing 5-1 aggregate win over the Magpies. They secured a 3-1 victory in the second leg of the semi-final last night.

Speaking after the game, Reijnders was asked whether the Premier League gap would fuel Man City to beat Arsenal. In response, the Dutchman said that it will be a tough match.

The £46.3 million signing added that the club are very hungry to win the Carabao Cup title, but Arsenal are amazing and a really balanced team at the moment.

He told Sky Sports (via BBC Sport): “Yes, of course. It will be a tough match, but we will be very hungry and we want to win this title.

“They play amazing and they are a really balanced team. We have to analyse and see where we can gain our strength.”

Arsenal face a tough test to end their trophy drought

The Gunners reached the League Cup final with a 4-2 aggregate win over Chelsea. It was far from straightforward and had to work hard in the second leg in particular (1-0.

Man City have not been at their defensive best this season. They have been without their regular centre-back pairing of Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol for a while, but the former has just returned.

Centre-back Marc Guehi is ineligible to play in the final due to competition rules, but the Mancunian outfit are still a dangerous opposition, particularly with Erling Braut Haaland leading the line.

Arsenal are unbeaten in the last six encounters against the Cityzens with three wins, but Haaland has still been a threat. He has scored in the last three meetings, including the 1-1 league draw this term.

Hence, the Gunners will need a perfect performance to secure their first trophy since the 2019/20 FA Cup.

The midfield battle could be one to watch out for. If the Gunners can dominate midfield proceedings, they would have a good chance of breaking their trophy drought in the Carabao Cup final on March 22.
