Arsenal face major European competition in race for highly rated young talent
Arsenal are reported to be showing interest in LOSC Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, according to information shared by FootMercato.
The north London side already have strong options in central midfield but remain keen to add more depth. Bouaddi is only 18 years old and has impressed with his calm displays for Lille this season.
The report suggests Arsenal have taken early steps to position themselves for a possible move. This interest comes even though the midfielder recently signed a new contract with the French club.
No formal bid has been submitted at this stage, despite growing belief around the player’s future. Bouaddi himself is said to feel that leaving Lille at the end of the season is likely.
Arsenal move early despite new Lille contract
Arsenal’s recruitment team are believed to be monitoring the situation very closely. The club are understood to admire Bouaddi’s technical quality and maturity on the ball.
His age has not stopped him from earning regular minutes in a competitive Lille squad. So far this season, Bouaddi has made 25 appearances across all competitions for the French side.
Those outings have helped him gain valuable senior-level experience. Despite committing his future to Lille with a new deal, interest from abroad has not cooled.
Arsenal are thought to be among the clubs most alert to any opening for a transfer. While no offer has been placed, contact has reportedly already been made.
PSG lead race as European giants circle
Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of the French Under-21 international. Paris Saint Germain are also strongly linked with a move for Bouaddi.
The Ligue 1 champions are said to be serious rivals in the race for his signature. Their interest adds a major challenge for any club hoping to complete a deal.
Even so, Arsenal are viewed as the main side prepared to push PSG the hardest. Competition does not end there, with several European giants tracking the player.
Real Madrid have been named among the clubs keeping a close watch.
Manchester United are also reported to be following his progress. Inter Milan are another side believed to be in the mix for the teenager.
Much will depend on developments later in the season and the player’s final decision. At present, no deal has been agreed, but interest around Bouaddi continues to grow.
