"There you go": Gary Neville makes Premier League prediction for Leeds vs Arsenal
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has made his prediction for Saturday’s Premier League clash between Leeds United and Arsenal at Elland Road.
The Gunners have stumbled in the league over the past few weeks, picking up only two points from their last three matches. The club suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
Hence, the pressure is right on Arsenal. They hold a slender four-point lead over Manchester City and Aston Villa at the top of the standings, and must respond with a victory to put the pressure on their title challengers, who only play on Sunday.
Ahead of the encounter, Neville has given his Premier League prediction alongside Paul Scholes. The former United right-back said that Leeds are doing alright at the moment and he backed them to pick up a 1-1 draw against the league leaders.
He said on the ‘Stick to Football‘ podcast: “Leeds are alright, we’re going to go 1-1. There you go, you’ve dropped two more points, Ian [Wright].”
Man City and Villa have been inconsistent themselves over the past month, but last weekend’s round of results favoured them. City and Villa were victorious while Arsenal suffered a late defeat to the Red Devils after Matheus Cunha’s 87th-minute strike.
The loss has led to questions over Arsenal’s league title credentials, and the onus is on the players to respond with a win in Yorkshire on Saturday. The Gunners have a superb record against the Whites, having won their previous seven matches.
Daniel Farke’s side suffered a heavy 5-0 loss at the Emirates earlier this campaign, but it could be a tougher affair this weekend, given Leeds have lost just one of the previous 12 games with six draws.
Their defensive record at Elland Road has also been good, with only 13 goals conceded from 11 league matches, and Arsenal must be clinical with their chance conversion to come on top.
Arsenal beat Kairat 3-2 in the Champions League yesterday, but were far from their usual best in the final third. They failed to convert eight big chances and must improve on their finishing.
