Thierry Henry reveals what Arsenal have over Manchester City and Aston Villa
Thierry Henry believes Arsenal are in a strong position in the Premier League title race despite dropping points at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Gunners were held to a goalless draw at the City Ground and failed to reach their usual level.
However, the result did not damage their position at the top, as key rivals also slipped up over the weekend.
Manchester City were beaten by Manchester United, while Aston Villa lost their match against Everton.
Those results ensured Arsenal kept a healthy seven-point lead, easing the frustration caused by the stalemate at Forest.
Henry, speaking to Sky Sports, admitted he initially felt Arsenal had wasted an important chance.
He said: “I thought at the time, yes, we did drop some points, but then with Villa not winning against Everton, you find yourself in a position where if no-one wants to run with us, you have to take what you have to take.
“Seven points ahead is a massive advantage, and I know it could have been nine, it could have been more.”
Henry believes faith in Arteta is paying off
The former Arsenal striker also praised the club for standing by manager Mikel Arteta during difficult moments. Henry stressed that patience and trust have placed Arsenal in a strong position this season.
He added: “You have two teams that could be in the top four, you put money on the table, we kept our coach, and we see a lot of coaches getting the sack, or people don’t trust them. It looks like we were right to keep (Arteta).
“He is doing extremely well. I’ll repeat myself, you put your money on the table and we are seven points ahead.
“We are doing extremely well. We asked Mikel Arteta to find a way to be above Liverpool and Man City. If they are not following with Villa, that is on them.”
Henry defends Arsenal style of play
Arsenal have faced criticism in recent weeks for their attacking output and their ability to create chances. Some observers have focused on their reliance on set-pieces in tight matches.
Henry dismissed those concerns and defended the way Arsenal are getting results.
He further emphasised: “Look at what you are doing, and what you can do, however you want to do it.
“I know a lot of people are talking about set-pieces and not creating a lot of chances, and whatnot. We asked him to find a way to win. That is what he is doing.”
The Arsenal legend made it clear that results matter most at this stage of the season. He believes style becomes secondary when teams are fighting for major honours.
Arsenal will now turn their focus to European action against Inter Milan in the Champions League on the road. After that, they return to league duty with a high-profile clash against United at the Emirates Stadium.
