Arsenal discover FA Cup fourth round opponents

0 3

Arsenal have been drawn against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Gunners booked their place with a comfortable 4-1 win over Portsmouth yesterday.

That result ensured safe passage and kept their hopes alive in a competition they know extremely well.

The north London giants remain the most successful team in FA Cup history. This new draw offers another clear chance to stretch that famous record even further.

Wigan, meanwhile, earned their place after seeing off Championship side Preston North End on Friday evening.

Their victory secured progression despite their current struggles in League One.

At present, Wigan sit 15th in the third tier and remain focused on steady league form. However, cup football often brings a different edge, especially against top-level opposition.

The fourth-round ties are scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, 2026. Final kick-off times and ticket details will be released at a later date.

Arsenal eye progress as focus stays sharp

Arsenal will enter the tie as clear favourites given their strong squad and recent form. Arteta is expected to rotate carefully while still fielding a side capable of controlling the game.

The win over Portsmouth showed depth across the team and a hunger to push deep into the competition.

Arsenal will aim to avoid any slip up that could derail momentum.

Wigan dream of another famous cup run

Wigan will take confidence from their history in the competition despite the size of the challenge ahead.
The club famously lifted the trophy during the 2012- 2013 season in a stunning final.

Their win over Preston highlighted discipline and fight, qualities they must repeat to stand any chance.
Facing Arsenal will demand near perfection across the pitch.

Beyond the FA Cup, Arsenal must also balance other major commitments. Attention will soon turn to Carabao Cup action against London rivals Chelsea.

The two sides meet in the League Cup semi-final, which will be played across two legs. The first leg is scheduled on January 14 at Stamford Bridge.
