Gabriel Jesus reveals the real reason Arsenal dominated Aston Villa

0 1

Gabriel Jesus praised Arsenal’s mentality after their strong home win against Aston Villa. The Brazilian forward said the team’s attitude made the difference on the night.

Mikel Arteta’s side ran out 4-1 winners in a game that changed after the break. Arsenal showed control, hunger, and sharp play to put Villa under constant pressure.

Arsenal show strength after the break

The opening half was tight, with both teams careful in their approach. Villa worked hard to disrupt Arsenal’s rhythm and slow down the pace of the game.

Arsenal broke the deadlock shortly after half-time. Gabriel Magalhaes scored in the 48th minute, giving the hosts a deserved lead.

Just four minutes later, Arsenal struck again. Martin Zubimendi doubled the advantage with a well-taken finish in the 52nd minute.

That second goal lifted the energy inside the stadium. Villa struggled to cope as Arsenal kept pushing forward with confidence.

Leandro Trossard added the third goal later in the match. Jesus then got on the scoresheet to seal a convincing victory.

Ollie Watkins scored a late goal in the 94th minute for Villa. The strike was only a consolation and did not change the outcome.

Jesus credits the team’s mindset and Gabriel’s return

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Jesus reflected on the challenge Villa always bring.
He admitted that playing against them is never easy for Arsenal.

“It was amazing. It’s always hard to play against them. They come here at all times and try to hurt us.”

Jesus also pointed to Villa’s attempts to slow the game down early on. He felt Arsenal stayed calm and focused despite those tactics.

“At the start you could see they were trying to delay the game. But we won tonight because of the mentality.”

The forward also spoke warmly about Magalhaes’ return to the starting eleven. The defender had missed time after picking up an injury while on Brazil duty.

The defender marked his return in the best possible way by scoring. His presence at the back also brought added balance to the team.

Jesus highlighted the impact the defender has when he plays. He stressed how vital Magalhaes is to the defensive unit.

“I said after the last game that you could see the difference the moment he stepped on the pitch. This guy loves to defend the way I love to attack. And he loves to score goals as well!”

The victory moves Arsenal further clear at the top of the table. The Gunners sit five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side still have a game in hand. Arsenal will remain focused as they look to maintain their strong form.
