'Wow', 'Machine': Declan Rice & Joao Gomes praise £27m Arsenal star after 4-1 win vs Aston Villa
Arsenal registered a fourth-straight Premier League win after a resounding performance against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
The Gunners had a tricky opening half against the Villans, but they stepped up after the interval.
Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring in his trademark style from a corner and put the club on course for a convincing 4-1 victory over Unai Emery’s side.
The Brazilian centre-back made his first start since recovering from a thigh injury, and it was unsurprising that he delivered a superb all-round display.
Leandro Trossard was probably the best player on the pitch last night, but Gabriel was handed the man of the match accolade by the TV broadcasters.
Shortly after the thumping 4-1 win, Magalhaes celebrated with the fans with an Instagram post.
Declan Rice did not play any part in the game due to a minor knee injury, but the Englishman was quick to praise the Brazilian, he simply commented: ‘Wow’.
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder and Brazilian compatriot Joao Gomes also responded with ‘Maquina’, which translates to ‘Machine’ in English.

The £27 million signing made his comeback from a thigh injury against Brighton & Hove Albion. He came on as a substitute and helped the club preserve a slender 2-1 lead.
With the huge importance of the Villa game, manager Mikel Arteta reinstated Magalhaes in the starting XI alongside William Saliba. He produced a fabulous display before his late substitution.
The 28-year-old was taken off with a possible cramp, and he should be fit for their next league fixture against Bournemouth on the road. Arsenal visit the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Gunners are presently five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the league standings. Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.
