"Full speed ahead": Club make big decision on £87m winger after Arsenal interest - report
Juventus have made a big contract decision on Kenan Yildiz amid interest from Arsenal, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport.
The 20-year-old has had a good first half to the season with the Bianconeri. He has scored seven goals and provided six assists from 23 appearances.
His progress has reportedly caught the eye of the Gunners, and Tuttosport report that the club have been monitoring the Turkish star for several months.
The interest from Arsenal, along with Chelsea and Liverpool, have forced Juventus to revise their contract proposal and are now prepared to meet Yildiz’s demands.
They had previously offered a net salary of £3.9 million per year and have increased the package to £5.2m annually, which would put him level with Jonathan David.
Juventus are moving ‘full speed ahead’. They have been convinced by Yildiz’s form and are set to hold a meeting with his father/agent in January to sort out the deal.
The Bianconeri plan to extend his contract until June 2031, a year more than previously discussed.
Yildiz to Arsenal talk was probably agent-driven
The former Bayern Munich graduate has primarily played as a left winger or a left-sided number 10 this term. He has been in good form with 13 goal contributions.
Yildiz has also caught the eye with his duel-winning and dribbling skills from the left flank. He has the potential to become an elite left-winger in years to come.
A recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport said that Arsenal could go head-to-head with Chelsea to sign the attacker amid his ongoing contract standoff with Juventus.
It was highlighted that Yildiz could be sold for around £87m next summer if the Bianconeri are unwilling to comply with his annual wage requirements of around £5.2m.
That has now apparently been sorted, with Juventus ready to pay the figure. We believe the player’s representative has used Arsenal as a negotiation tool for the renewal.
There has been no exclusive story from British sources regarding Yildiz and Arsenal in recent months, and the speculation has been driven primarily through Italian publications.
The ongoing links should end with Yildiz on the cusp of penning a new Juventus contract.
