Big boost for Arsenal with two Aston Villa stars suspended for Tuesday's PL game
Arsenal have been handed a big boost for the upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners returned to the top of the table after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier on Saturday.
The club hold a slender two-point lead over Manchester City and face another testing challenge against Villa on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the game, they have been handed a huge boost with a couple of key Villa players suspended for the league encounter.
Villa right-back Matty Cash picked up a yellow card during the opening half of the 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
As a result, the Poland international received his fifth booking of the league season. He will therefore serve a one-game suspension.
Similarly, midfielder Boubacar Kamara was carrying a suspension risk, and he picked up his fifth yellow card of the league campaign too.
Both players are now suspended for Tuesday’s much-awaited league encounter at the Emirates.
Arsenal are winless in the previous two meetings against Villa. The Midlands outfit scored the winner with the last kick of the game at Villa Park earlier this month.
Unai Emery’s side are just three points behind in the league standings, and Arsenal must turn up with a better performance against them this time around.
The Gunners have not beaten Villa at home since August 2022. The club must prove their title credentials by getting the better of the Villans on Tuesday.
Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori missed the 2-1 win over Brighton with minor injuries. It remains to be seen whether they will recover in time for the midweek game.
