Injured £65m Arsenal star now 'pushing hard' to return to action before January
Arsenal have had to cope with several injuries during the first half of the Premier League campaign.
The Gunners have been without Kai Havertz since the curtain-raiser against Manchester United at Old Trafford in August, when he picked up a knee injury.
It was initially anticipated that he would return by early November, but a minor relapse has contributed to a further delay in his return to first-team action.
HandofArsenal, who exclusively broke the Cristhian Mosquera story last summer, has revealed that Havertz is targeting the remaining December fixtures for a possible return.
The Germany international will be eased back into action after a long-term absence, but the 26-year-old is ‘pushing hard’ to make an appearance before the turn of the year.
Havertz’s return would be a big boost for Arsenal
The £65 million signing has been a key player for the Gunners over recent seasons. Havertz was on 15 goals for the 2024/25 season last winter before sustaining a hamstring injury during the warm-weather training camp in Dubai, which ruled him out of action until May.
The German had a lively pre-season with the Gunners last summer, but he unfortunately sustained a knee injury coming on as a substitute against United. Havertz has had a longer road to recovery than predicted, but he is now on the cusp of making his comeback.
With Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus and Mikel Merino available to lead the line, Havertz could be handled with extra caution. He should be limited to cameo appearances on his return.
Still, the forward would bring a different dimension to Arsenal’s attack with his aerial presence and improved hold-up play, in addition to his ability to make goal contributions.
Havertz has also improved immensely with his off-the-ball movement during his time at Arsenal. Having him fit and firing during the backend of the campaign would undoubtedly boost the club’s title pursuit.
